My Favorite Healthy Snacks

1. Homemade popcorn. We make this a few times a week (at least). It's so yummy with spray butter (hardly any calories) and Real Salt (the best salt ever!) Click here to find the salt.

2. Propel. Don't you just love this drink! Its so refreshing and tasty with low calorie.

3. This is my favorite smoothie recipe! And it's really tasty when served with homemade popcorn. I got the recipe from my BFF Oprah. It's 2 c frozen strawberries, 1 ripe banana, and 2 c chocolate soy milk. Then just blend it all together. Delish.

3. Rice Crackers. Found at Costco. I eat these every day. They are crunchy and yummy. They are really good plain but if you have hummus or another dip they are good with that too.

What are you're favorite healthy snacks?

PS thanks for the camera advice!

Mini Quilts

Tanner showing off his baseball mini quilt in his baseball pants!

Brooklyn holding her mini quilt.

A while back I had a post about the mini quilts I made with my niece and nephew (Saylor and Jackson) while I lived with them in California. Well my nephew Tanner (the brother of 2 kidos just mentioned) came up to me around Christmas time asking me to make him a mini quilt. It was the cutest thing ever. I had no idea he even noticed or cared that his siblings got little quilts. I felt bad that I hadn't made one with him. So Tanner and I had a little talk about his favorite colors and what he wanted his mini quilt to look like. I found some baseball fabric and I also decided to make Brooklyn their youngest sister a mini quilt too. Now all the Bournes kids have one. I heard Tanner danced with excitement when the package came in the mail with his quilt inside.

Have you seen the new VOGUE?

I love the new Vogue. Genious. LeBron James and Gisele Bündchen grace the cover. The amazing Annie Leibovitz photgraphed various athletes with super models. What a cool idea! Check it out.

I Won!

I won a contest that we were having at work (Anthropologie). I got a cuuute mug with a K on it and yummy candy. It sure is fun to win! Now it sits next to my bed and it holds my glasses.

Room Refresh

While I've been home for the last few months my mom and I decided to take on my room. My room needed a major refresh. It hadn't really changed since high school the walls were still pink and the bedding was old. I wanted to make a quilt for the room so that has been my on going project for the last couple months. We painted the walls a yellow/creme color, bought new bedding, and took out some furniture pieces to make it feel less crowded. Those changes did wonders. It feels amazing now. I finished the quilt as of Monday. This is only the 2nd quilt I have ever done so I still have a lot to learn. I really love the quilting process. It is so rewarding to see a stack of fabric come together and before I know it I have a beautiful quilt making my room bright and pretty and keeping me warm. I already have a plan for my next quilt. That will be my summer project.
FYI: I found this quilt pattern in Amy Bulter's In Stitches book. I bought all of my fabric at Purl Soho (at the CA location).

Give your Feet a Treat

Our Seattle Anthropologie just started selling shoes! Only 22 Anthro stores will be selling shoes in their stores so we feel kinda specail. Tonight we had a shoe party at the store. We invited our top customers and we modeled the shoes. We served champagne and strawberries. It sounds glamorous huh! The sad thing is that we didn't have a very good show of people. I'm guess it's because of rainy weather, so that's too bad. The shoes a so Fun. Expensive, but Fun! My favorites are the yellow and red ones with the wooden button! (the middle picture)

pretty thing

I made this lil number for my twin sis. I used a wonderful Amy Butler pattern found here. I also used Amy Butler fabric. I can't get enough of Amy. I just love her stuff. Her fabric is obviously gorgeous but I really love her patterns. They are clear and easy to follow! Great huh. I really love making clothing.

Biz Lady

A week ago my friend Nicole and I went to DWR (Design Within Reach) where they hosted a Biz Lady meeting for Design Sponge. Over a hundred Seattle designers came. Grace from Design Sponge organized it all. There were 3 other speakers. A local artist (she's the graphic designer for Starbucks), the owner of Velocity, and a lawyer. We rotated through the speakers and it was in Question/Answer format. It was so Great! I learned so much about marketing/PR, real life designer success stories and retailing/wholesaling. Plus there was tasty food!

it's a birthday Shout Out

This cute lil nephew of mine is turning 8 today! Gholly, they grow up fast. I think this is my favorite picture of him. He is smart and curious and happy and adorable. I love this guy.
Happy Birthday Teague. Love aunt kristine

tu tu for you

I made this tu tu and leotard for my niece in my advanced sewing class. I spotted this ballerina dress below at tinymcsmall.com selling for $160. Sure is really cute but $160 for a 3 year old to play dress up. Yikes. I'm happy I can make one for less then $20. And you sewers out there can too. It was surprisingly easy.

Hammer Press

My friend Nicole, who is from Kansas city, told me about a shop called Hammer Press. It sounded super neat. So I've been visiting there website often and I love their work. If you've been looking for something to put on a blank wall look no further. Check out Hammerpress.net and you won't be disappointed.
