surprise ball

growing up my mom would make surprise balls for birthday parties and christmas. we still make them every christmas for my nieces and nephews and they are a HIT. everytime.

Egan had a birthday yesterday so I sent her a surprise ball. This one was more 'grown up' compared to the kids ones (bobbi brown makeup and some serious cash) but I still added surprises likes silly bandz, gum, pop rocks, fruit snacks, pin buttons.

happy birthday egan. you're the best older sister a girl could ask for. cool. funny. stylish. talented. confident. beautiful. smart. determined. hardworking......and hot.
xo!

back2school

back 2 school time!
my roommates start school tomorrow and i couldn't resist putting together a little package. it's really cute to see them pick out outfits and pack their backpacks, and talk about what friends are in their class. i kinda miss being a tike and doing all of that.

so this morning they woke up to a box of crackers, fruit leather, pencil, silly bandz.

Sunni's MS Charity Boutique

My sister Annie's friend Sunni (who was diagnosed with MS) put on a MS Charity Boutique in her backyard on Saturday. Sunni asked if we'd like to set up a booth and we were happy to. Our sister-in-law Lindsey and cousin Erin were there too selling handmade diaper bags and scripture bags.

Here is our set up:

I'm trying to get my arms tan.
Earrings!
More Earrings and Throw Pillows

Little Girl Skirts
Aprons
Necklaces
Clothespin Magnets

Annie made nursing apron/covers: (love the fabric!)
Jane's hand knit dish cloths. Great colors!
And look what I found under my table. These cuties.

Today is Pink

Today I finished Jane's quilt top. I still need to buy some backing and quilt it together but it is on the road to completion. She's been wanting me to make her a quilt and I finally got my act together. (it helps that i'm jobless)

I made this E pillow for my sister to give to her daughter on Christmas. I love seeing it propped up on her bed. I will be making more monogram pillows for the etsy shop soon!
And this little girl just melts my heart.

Here is another Amy Butler creation. I really like how this lil number turned out. It is a great gift and a great way to put my fabric scaps to use! Click here to find the pattern.

Mini Quilt

This Summer I lived in Laguna with my sis and her fam. My nephew Jackson wanted to do a sewing project with me. This sewing project would also count for a cub scout requirement. We picked out some fabric and made a mini quilt. He did a lot of the sewing. I was so impressed. Isn't he a stud! I put his initials on the back to add a personalized touch. love you jackson!

handmade gifts

I had so much fun making my Christmas gifts this year. I made skirts for my nieces and a quilt for my brother-in-law. We pick names for Christmas and this year we all decided to make our own gifts. Yikes, it was hard. The guys hated the idea. It was so fun to see what everyone made though. It was really impressive. I would have been happy with any of the gifts. For the gift I was making I decided to make a quilt...my first one ever. I had so much fun making this quilt and learned a lot along the way. I am now addicted. My favorite part of the quilting process was learning how to use a Long arm machine. The machine is huge and you can free hand any design you wish and it quilts all the layers together - brilliant.
