I have No School on Friday!!
My house is clean!!
It is sunny and 70 degrees!!
One more month of student teaching!!
I get mom made enchiladas for dinner and pumpkin cookies for dessert!!

The Quilt Shoppe

I, along with my sister Jane, and friends Kimberly, and Willard made a trip up to Rexburg, ID this last weekend. The weekend went by too fast. I didn't get to visit all my old friends but I did have a Blast! I seriously wanted to cry when we got off the exit to Rexburg. I love that place. I spent 5 years there (best 5 years of my life...so far). When we arrived we met up with Sarah and Maggie got dinner at Craigos (a rexburg original), hit up a dance party (of course we did), visited old friends, drank hot chocolate, and chatted the night away. Saturday we made pumpkin pancakes, toured campus (believe it or not, lots has changed since July), visited my favorite Quilt Shoppe in Rigby, ate lunch at Pita Pit, went do DI, made muffins, caught up with old friends, ate dinner at Teton Thai (my favorite place to eat in Rexburg). Saturday night friends came over and we made carmel apples. It was as if I never left. Now I miss that place even more.

What a fun time of year!

Read this!

Have you read any of Malcolm Caldwell's books or essays? If not, I highly recommend them. It was a year or so a go in a college English class that I first read a excerpt from his book The Tipping Point. I loved it. My parents then started reading his books and we would have great discussions about them. When I was home in the winter I listened to his book Blink on my ipod to and from work. (FYI they are great books to listen to...I like hearing his voice). Yesterday I saw somewhere that he has a new book out called Outliers.

Malcolm Gladwell was born in England and raised in Canada. He now lives in New York and writes for the New Yorker magazine.
Tipping Point is a book about change. He asks and examines questions like: "why did crime drop so dramatically in New York City in the mid-1990's? How does a novel written by an unknown author end up as national bestseller? Why do teens smoke in greater and greater numbers, when every single person in the country knows that cigarettes kill? Why is word-of-mouth so powerful? What makes TV shows like Sesame Street so good at teaching kids how to read?"

The Tipping Point is an examination of the social epidemics that surround us.
"Blink" is a book about the kind of thinking that happens in the blink of an eye. So interesting! He explains that in the first two seconds some really powerful and important conclusions can be made.

Road Trip

On the Road!
To visit this girl...

My sister Jane and I had a 4 day weekend so we packed up the car and took a road trip to see our good friend Livi in Boise, ID. We were roomates in college and it has been way to long since we have hung out. So thanks to Fall Recess at the Utah schools we could make this trip possible. It is fun to visit a new place. We've already hit up some thrift stores. Oh and the weather is Gorgeous! Hope you having a lovely weekend!

You're Hired!

When I left school yesterday afternoon and was listening to my messages I was pleasantly surprised to hear a message from my old manager at Anthropologie. He was calling to say they missed me!!! and that they want me back. I had left Anthro in April to go back and finish school. He told me they had a few positions open and wanted to call me and let me know. I quickly called them back and I am hired! I will work for them in Seattle over the holidays. I am very excited (and relieved) to have job when I get home.

It sure feels good to be wanted!

A Book Want List

My book want list is getting long. Here are a few books on my list.

1. Anna Maria Horners "Seams to Me." She is a fabric designer (one of my favorites) and has just come out with her first book. It is filled with ideas, patterns, techniques, etc.
2. "Found Style" by Amy and David Butler. I believe this was Amy's first book. I LOVE Amy Butler and have 2 of her books already. This book looks like a great coffee table/inspiration book.
3. Domino's "The Book of Decorating." I love a design book and Domino is one of my favorite magazines so what a perfect combination!
4. Amy Butler's "Little Stitches." Ok so you get the point. I really love this woman. She is brilliant. This book is full of some great patterns and ideas!
What is on your book list? What are you reading? With the cold fall weather all I really want to do is drink hot chocolate, sit by a fire, and read a good book.

General Conference was uplifting and wonderful as usual!

Friday!

It is the weekend! This week flew by...and you won't hear me complaining! I'm excited to hang out with my family this weekend and watch General Conference!
I, as usual, look forward to garage saleing with Jane on Saturday morning. It is always a good time.



And I must tell you about this German fabric company. It is called Volksfaden. Look at these freakin sweet collages they make using their fabric. Radical! I want to put it in a frame! Love it.

I am happy because I love this time of year. I love pumpkin pie, pumpkin chocolate chip cookies, leaves, scarves, boots, soup, warm bread, HALLOWEEN. What a great time of year!

I am also happy because my sister comes home from China today! YAY!
