from Jim

JimsLoveNoteToElaineJuly1943+001
My Aunt Susan sent this image to my family a couple weeks ago and I sorta died over it. It was a book given to my grandma from my grandpa in 1943 (4 months after they were married).

The book: "The Poems of Longfellow"

 The note:
To my darling wife Elaine-
Let this little book of treasured poems be a minute token of the treasured memories I hold of our courtship which began beautifully four years ago today.
I love Longfellow and I know you will too. And when you use this book to read verse to the children we both hope to have some day, let your memory linger for a moment on July 23, 1939 at Stewart Ranch, Utah.
My deepest Love,
Jim

Oh my precious!! This was so beautiful! I am not one for writing the best, most thoughtful words, but my husband is good at always saying the right things! This makes me want to buy an old book of something special and write a nice note inside and mail it to someone.
