Okay so every Febuary the University single wards in seattle do this thing called 'Sweet Meet.' It is actually super cheesy and I kinda dread it, but it ends up being a fun event. So this is what it is...the girls bring desserts and the guys have an auction to get the desserts and then you eat the dessert with the guy that 'bought' it. (every year they switch off on which gender brings the dessert). This year I made some Martha Stewart hot chocoate (delish) and cupcakes (my favorte treat). And it was a hit! Happy V-day. I wish I could share my hot cocoa with you and give you a cupcake!

Final Moments

My days of no work are soon to be Over. I start work tomorrow(saturday) at Anthro and on Monday I start my job at Sweeney Conrad as a receptionist. It will be good to have a set schedule and make money but I love having my days to do whatever I want...which means spending most of the day sewing. Well I better enjoy my final moments!

Law of Attraction

It was a year ago that Oprah (and my mom) introduced me to "The Secret." Did you see that show? Have you read the book? That show made a big impact on me. I haven't fully embrassed the 'law of attraction' but my mind set has been adjusted. I try to think positively and have positive energy but I am no where near perfect. Today on Oprah she talked about the Secret again but in more depth and I found it really helpful, interesting, and pracitcal. One thing that I am going to start doing is making a Vision Board. A vision board is a board that you put images of things that you want. It's not meant to be 'material' things but it can. There were women on the show that used vision boards and found great success in doing so. So you look at these images or lists everyday and you focus on things that you really want. I am a believer in the power in energy. Positive and negative energy are so extremely powerful. It is so not fun to be around people that release negative energy and on the other hand we all want to surround ourselves around positive people. I just need to keep reminding myself that I want to be a person that people want to be with because I am positive and happy and am releasing positive energy. I know this post is pretty random but I felt like I should express my feelings. I have so much to work on. Let the journey of becoming a better me begin!
Daring
You've heard of this book right? Have you had a chance to browze through it? Around Christmas time I felt like I was seeing it everywhere so finally I picked it up and skimed though the pages. It is so cool! No wonder this book is everywhere! I bought it after Christmas when it was on sale. I wish I had it when I was a young but now I'll have it for my daughters. The book is full of random information. Some of the sections are "how to press flowers," "five karate moves," "Make your own quill pen," "how to change a tire". Funny huh! Pick it up if you haven't, you'll be glad you did.Tuesday, February 5, 2008

Charity

My Relief Society President said this quote in a talk recently. And it hit a cord with me. I thought I would share it with the rest of you to think about.
"We are all receiving Charity. There is something in each of us that cannot be naturally loved. It is not one's fault if they do not so love it. Only the lovable can be naturally loved. You might as well ask people to like the taste of rotten bread of the sound of a mechanical drill. We can be forgiven, and pitied, and loved in spite of it with Charity; no other way. All who have good parents, wives, husbands, or children, may be sure that at some time -- and perhaps at all times in respect of some one particular trait or habit -- they are receiving charity, are loved not because they are lovable but because Love Himself is in those who love them."
