Student Teaching? Check! Twilight? Check!

As of Today I am done with college! I feel like confetti should be falling from the sky! What a great feeling. Today was my last day student teaching and I can hardly believe it. It went by so fast! I feel so lucky because I had a great experience doing my student teaching...and I actually want to teach (i never thought i would say that). I am going to miss my 9th grade clothing class the most. It was all girls and they were the Sweetest. I loved teaching them how to sew and seeing them improve! A couple cute girls made me this cute poster...

Sweet huh! I overheard one girl say "She's like the best student teacher I've ever had!" haha. Score! I also had a girl come up to me and say (by the way this girl is Weird and drove me Nuts) "when i first met you i didn't really like you, but i am happy to say that i now like you a lot." My cooperating teacher and I about DIED laughing. And the other day I was helping a girl sew her project and a group of girls say...
"Ms. Metcalf, are you married?"
Me: "Nope"
Girls: "Do you have a boyfriend?"
Me: "no"
Girls: "Oh, well you are really pretty and you dress cute everyday."
Me: "Do you have older borthers?" (haha j/k i didn't say that)

I wish that is all it took to get a boyfriend. hehe

Middle schoolers are so funny and Honest!

Jane and I went to Twilight last night! And Oh My Gosh we about Died! We loved it! We were so giddy and girly and giggly the whole time. Go and See it if you haven't.

PS i really heart Edward in Ray Bans.

Pomegranate

It's pomegranate time. What a tasty fruit. My mom always buys pomegranates this time of year and we would either eat the seeds by themselves or add them to a salad. Here is a favorite salad recipe.
Christmas Salad
from the Favorites Ivory cookbook
1 head red leaf lettuce
1 head green leaf lettuce
2 large grapefruits
1 large pomegranate
1 large avocado
1 large pear
Dressing:
1 cup sugar
2 teaspoons dry mustard
1 teaspoon salt
2/3 cup apple cider vinegar
2 cups vegetable oil
1 tablespoon poppy seeds
Blend dressing in a food processor; refrigerate until ready to use. Tear lettuce into small pieces, set aside. Peel grapefruits and cut into sections, set aside. Seed pomegranate, set aside. Assemble salads on individual salad plates: place lettuce on plate, arrange grapefruit sections and pomegranate seeds on top, slice avocado and pear, put pieces onto each plate, then drizzle dressing over each salad and serve.
enjoy!

7 girls

Remember how I mentioned that my girlfriends were coming to town. Well they came and went and it was so great to have them here. I miss them. After the best summer ever it is hard to not live near them... but on rare occasions like this when we get together it is as if we never were away from each other. I love friendships like that (and oh how we missed the rest of the gang!). We had a very chill weekend...which was nice. We had tasty hot chocolate, thrifted in Provo, ate Thai food, and watched lots and lots of girly music videos on youtube. too much fun.

warm soup, cold walk

I love being here in Utah. I love living near some of my siblings. They take such good care of me! Egan has invited us over for dinner Many times. Last Sunday for example she made us homemade tomato soup, healthy pumpkin muffins, and green beans. Oh boy it was tasty. She's a a really good cook. I'll have to share the recipe with you. I love this time of year. Such warm and tasty foods. After dinner we usually go for a walk. She lives in this great area and we love looking at the houses. Gorgeous! So thanks sister, for sharing your food and jacket for the cold walks!

Great Sunset!

This is my nephew Gavin. I love him lots. I am so lucky to live so close cause I get to see him all the time. I like to kiss his cheeks but he always wipes my kisses off (haha). I had to get a picture of us together on Sunday cause we looked like twinners. He is cute!

On a completely different note...Happy Election Day! It sure is exciting! (but it's also giving me some anxiety.)

born today

Teague and his new sister
Elise has a sister! Wahoo!
I love being an Aunt!

I love her. A LOT!

Happiness!
Quinn Evaline Porter was born today. My sister has had her fourth and we couldn't be more excited. As I was driving to the hospital (so darn anxious to meet this beauty queen) I couldn't help but think about how much I love my family! I love living near them and being apart of their lives.
My sister Jane and I arrived at the hospital and found my brother and sister already there. They were standing watching Quinn in the nursery. We quickly ran over and I could not take my eyes off her. She's a beauty I tell you! Then my Mom came with Quinn's siblings. It was so cute to see their reaction. Such excitement and curiosity.
My sister Annie and her husband Kenyon and doing Great! They are exhausted (obviously) but are so happy!
