handmade gifts

I had so much fun making my Christmas gifts this year. I made skirts for my nieces and a quilt for my brother-in-law. We pick names for Christmas and this year we all decided to make our own gifts. Yikes, it was hard. The guys hated the idea. It was so fun to see what everyone made though. It was really impressive. I would have been happy with any of the gifts. For the gift I was making I decided to make a quilt...my first one ever. I had so much fun making this quilt and learned a lot along the way. I am now addicted. My favorite part of the quilting process was learning how to use a Long arm machine. The machine is huge and you can free hand any design you wish and it quilts all the layers together - brilliant.

Enjoy

A Birthday Shout Out!

Happy Birthday Mom! Yesterday was her birthday (they day after christmas, rough). It is a hard day to have a birthday. The whole fam was in st. george for christmas so we were able to wish her a happy birthday before packing up and leaving for our different homes. I feel bad that she never gets a big celebration it is just so crazy after christmas. She is one great lady and I love her to death. She is so creative, funny, caring, loving, athletic, artistic, helpful, smart, and a great cook to say the least. She is a joy to be around and I look up to her so much.

So happy birthday to my beautiful mother!

Aprons

I've made some aprons. These pictures don't show them very well so I need to take new pictures. I made us girls aprons for thanksgiving. I think they turns out pretty cute. I used an amy butler pattern. And I loved the fabric I found at the Quilt Shoppe in Rigby, ID. I have a new apron pattern that I am excited to try out. It is a full apron with a ruffle on the bottom. So more to come.

any excuse to Party

I know that Jane already posted about our annual Christmas party but I couldn't resist putting up some pictures. We had so much fun. In the past we've done the ugly sweater thing but decided this year to class it up. So we got these nasty dresses at DI. I even found that little fur number. A great find! We danced all night long. It was a blast hanging with all our friends.
Tis the season!
I hope to see pictures of your holiday celebrations.

counting down the hours

I am just hours away from being DONE with fall semester. I still have a take home final to turn in and a Food Science final to take. So I am counting down the hours. I am excited to...
sell back my books and get some $$
finish packing and cleaning
eat lunch at Pita Pit before my last final
give Christmas gifts
and get on the road to Utah tomorrow morning!
The snow and bitter cold really hit Rexburg this week so I am looking forward to Christmas in St. George and 4 months in Southern California.
Oh and P.S. i finished a big Christmas gift that I've been working on for the last few weeks. I am so proud of it! I'll show you all after the holidays.

a pleasant surprise

I had a funny experience this afternoon. Jane picked me and my friend Maggie up from classes and we ran some errands before heading home. Jane stopped by jamba juice to get a coldbuster. Maggie and I stayed in the car and chatted away. Our car was facing the entrance of the jamba juice and we could see who was going in and out. Well these two boys walk into jamba. And I know who one of the boys is and immediately said "uhhg I can't stand that kid, he drives me nuts, blah blah blah" I tell maggie a story about something annoying he did and so on. Well right as I am done bashing this guy we see the door open to jamba juice and he not only holds the door open for an older lady that is carrying a lot of jamba juices he takes them from her arms and places them in her car! Ahh I couldn't believe it. Maggie and I just started laughing. We feel like idiots. I mean seriously Heavenly Father must have wanted me to be humbled cause it was unreal how it all happened. I don't know how many times experiences like the one I had today are going to have to happen for me to learn Not to Judge, Not to talk rudely about people. I mean sheesh! It was a pleasant surprise to see a boy who I thought was so annoying and immature do and act that was so kind and caring.

Heavenly Father, I think I learned my lesson!

one lucky girl

I have met some super rad girls this semester and I feel so lucky. They have made my last year at college so much fun. We all met because we live in apartments right next to each other and have been inseparable ever since. Boys find in intimidating...maybe that's why I don't date. Dang. ha.
It has been an amazing semester. Sad to see it coming to an end.

Delish I say. Delish!

When I interned an Anthropologie the Design Coordinator introduced me to these bars. And I fell in love. They are called LARA BARS. They are super healthy and actually taste good...not like those gross energy bars.

I got this from their website...

LÄRABAR is a delicious blend of unsweetened fruits, nuts and spices - energy in its purest form. Made from 100% whole food, each flavor contains no more than six ingredients. Pure and simple, just as nature intended.

1 SERVING OF FRUIT * NO ADDED SUGAR * UNPROCESSED RAW * NON- GMO * GLUTEN FREE * DAIRY FREE * SOY FREE VEGAN * KOSHER

BOMB huh! They come in bulk at some Costcos. I love that you can actually read all the ingredients on the label! They are great for a before or after the gym snack, also when you are on the run.
